On Sunday, October 8, 2023, upon a invitation of the Parish priest of the Serbian Orthodox Church "Saint Sava" in Nijmegen, Father Dušan Erdelj, and with the presence and blessing of the Bishop of the Eparchy of Western Europe of the Serbian Orthodox Church, His Eminence Justin, the thirty years of existence of the mentioned Parish was solemnly celebrated. Ambassador Ksenija Milenković responded to the invitation on behalf of the Embassy, as well as First Counsellor Dušan Vukić and Counsellor Branislav Grbić.
After the Liturgy, led by Bishop Justin, Ambassador Ms K. Milenković, Counsellor Mr. B. Grbić and the former First Counsellor of the Embassy Mr. B. Kljajić, as well as several deserving parishioners and citizens, were presented with Archbishop's Gramats for exceptional efforts, long-term cooperation with the Parish of "St. Sava" in Nijmegen and participation in the reconstruction of the Serbian Military Monument in Garderen.
The ceremony marking 30 years of the Parish, which was attended around 150 citizens, continued in the Hall of a nearby school. The ceremony was accompanied with a rich cultural and artistic Program with recitations and songs by the distinguished actress Ms Svetlana Bojković and singing artist Ms Gordana Lazarević. The Folcloric Group "Tamo daleko" from Rotterdam, as well as a local Dutch cultural Folcloric Group, took part in the Program. Pupils of the Serbian Church School from Nijmegen prepared a performance with original Serbian songs and recitations. A short documentary film about the history of the Parish was also shown. As part of the Ceremony, an Exhibition dedicated to Serbian soldiers from the First World War who died in the Netherlands was organized by the Museum of the Rudnička-Takovo region from Gornji Milanovac with cooperation of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Dutch researchers J. Stinen and F. Vendrig.
